Multi-unit Franchise Sells to Husband and Wife Team from Houston

After many years as a Jackson Hewitt franchisee, Adeel Ali was looking to spend more time with family and explore other personal business ventures.

Selling an Established Franchise

As the owner of 20 locations across the greater triangle area – many of which have been in operation for over 10 years deciding to sell the business was not an easy decision for Ali.

"Jackson Hewitt tax service provided me with flexibility. The business is a stable business with a stable cash flow, but as my kids get older I realize I want to spend more time with them." said Ali.

Meeting with senior advisors Van Daughtry and Chad Barbour allowed Ali to discuss his options for selling. Being previous Jackson Hewitt franchisees, Daughtry and Barbour were able to give Adeel first-hand advice on preparing to sell his business. After working closely with the team at MidStreet, Ali decided to list his business.

Once the marketing package was complete, MidStreet secured a buyer almost immediately.

Finding the Best Buyers

Buyers, Lew and Nancy Spelgatti, currently own numerous locations throughout Virginia. As a previous client of MidStreet, the Spelgatti’s are well-versed in the process of purchasing a business – the pair worked with MidStreet in 2016 to purchase a multi-unit Jackson Hewitt Franchise from Chad Barbour.

In a short period of time, this entrepreneurial pair has won numerous awards for their franchise performance. Working with Daughtry and Barbour, they navigated the SBA loan process and purchased one of the largest territories in the Jackson Hewitt system.

“The greater Triangle region where these territories are located is undergoing tremendous growth and they recognize the potential for expanding here. I have full confidence that Lew and Nancy will be very successful.” said Daughtry.

Adeel Ali has now focused his energy towards AwareSign, a product that he developed to help small businesses solve daily operational issues and improve efficiency.
